The brief for our assessment is, in short, to create a contemporary version of an Elizabethan hairstyle.
We have to create a hairstyle with our hair in mind, which will then recreated by our partner on us.
Therefore it is very important to make clear notes for the partner, explaining what we were thinking and how it has to be done.Maybe even include a picture on how it should look like if you practiced the hairstyle on your own before. You should also write in your notes if you have any scalp/skin problems and how the condition of your hair is , because that's important information which needs to be considered while doing the hairstyle. For example if my hair would be quite damaged,my partner shouldn't use the highest temperature when curling my hair.
So how do I start?
The best think to do is obviously to do some research!
How did a typical Elizabethan woman/man hairstyle look like?
Which products and accessories did they use?
Here are now some portraits of Elizabeth the 1st with various hairstyles just to get a general impression

This one shows Elizabeth's coronation on January the 15th 1559, where she wears her hair loose.
Here you can already see that her hairstyle changed a lot but I will talk more about in the next post.
