Elizabethan head covering, Part 2- The French hood

The French Hood

The french hood had a crescent shaped kind of Alice band with a veil covering the back. The edges were often decorated with pearls or jewels (called bilaments/billiments). Anne Boleyn, being raised in France, was the person that primarily introduced the French hood to England.
